Reaffirming Our Solidarity for Peace In Mindanao and Our Commitment to Accompanying the Bangsamoro Peace Process

We, members of the Mindanao PeaceWeavers, gathered in Davao City for a two-day Convenors Meeting to consider the state of peace in Mindanao and take stock of important lessons in the work of helping create a hopeful future for the region.

We recognize the enormous challenges that still need to be surmounted in order to address the various conflicts that weigh down development efforts and continue to consign the lives of millions of people to lingering uncertainties.

THE BANGSAMORO PEACE AGREEMENT IS OURS TOO!

The success of peace in the Bangsamoro is not just for the peoples of the Bangsamoro and the Philippines, but ours as well in region.

We are meanwhile mindful of the concerns raised by stakeholders whom we met in Cotabato and Manila during our visit with regards to inclusivity of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) and the delay in its submission to the Congress of the Philippines. We hope that these concerns are listened to and addressed.

GLOBAL PEACE ACTIVISTS SUPPORT BANGSAMORO PACT, REMIND OF LESSONS FROM PAST SOUTHEAST ASIA PEACE PROCESSES

Peace activists and key civil society actors from different countries in Southeast Asia, who participated in the first international peace and solidarity mission to Bangsamoro, vowed to extend their support for the Bangsamoro peace process while highlighting the importance of its success to regional peace.

“The success of peace in the Bangsamoro is not just for the peoples’ of the Bangsamoro and the Philippines, but ours as well in region,” the twenty-member delegation, who are also key actors in their respective peace and democratic processes, said in a statement released today.
